Kamanaa Wins Big at the 5th Karnataka International Film Festival 2025

The Maldivian film Kamanaa has achieved major international recognition after winning three prestigious awards at the 5th Karnataka International Film Festival 2025, marking a proud milestone for Maldivian cinema and for Saturn Studio.

Directed by Hussain Munawwar, Kamanaa received the Best Director Award, honoring Munawwar’s powerful vision and compelling storytelling. The film’s success continued with Yoosuf Shafeeu winning Best Lead Actor and Mariyam Azza receiving Best Lead Actress, recognizing their emotionally charged and memorable performances.

Released in 2024, Kamanaa is a Maldivian feature film produced by Ali Shaniz Mohamed under the banner of Saturn Studio. The film stars Yoosuf Shafeeu, Mariyam Azza, and Aminath Rashfa in pivotal roles.

The story follows a happily married couple whose lives take a dark and unexpected turn when the husband undergoes a drastic transformation. As the relationship begins to unravel, the wife is forced into a fight for survival while trying to protect her unborn child.
